On 4 October 2024, PuppetPlays invites you to a one-day symposium dedicated to the (re)discovery of unpublished manuscripts of Guignol plays. This event is organized in partnership with the Musée des Arts de la Marionnette (Musées Gadagne) and the Compagnie M. A. – Théâtre Le Guignol de Lyon theatre company.
Throughout the day, you will have the opportunity to attend a series of lectures and a roundtable discussion gathering puppet theatre specialists, who will unveil the richness and diversity of texts written for Guignol, the iconic French hand puppet created in Lyon in the 19th century. You will also witness how original manuscripts are revived through artistic performances by Compagnie M.A. – Théâtre le Guignol de Lyon, Compagnie Daniel Streble, and Gérard Truchet, President of the Société des Amis de Lyon et de Guignol.
Please join us in the Auditorium of the Musée des Arts de la Marionnette (Musées Gadagne, Lyon), from 9 am to 5 pm.
Admission is free (subject to available seating).
